June Benson is a passionate and forward-thinking professional committed to advancing technical education and institutional excellence. Since joining Mwala Technical and Vocational College, she has played a vital role in enhancing industry-academic collaboration, institutional productivity, and administrative coordination. Her strong leadership and dedication led to her appointment as the Head of the Industrial Liaison Office (ILO) in October 2024.
Ms. June Benson is a dedicated and visionary professional in the field of Medical Engineering, with a strong background in education, industrial relations, and institutional leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Engineering from the Technical University of Mombasa (TUM) and is a certified Trainer, Assessor, and Verifier licensed by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA). As a committed member of the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya (AMEK), she actively contributes to professional development, ethics, and innovation in the field of medical engineering. She gained hands-on industry experience working as an equipment servicing personnel at Morab Ltd., where she was responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of biomedical devices. Additionally, she completed her internship at Shalom Community Hospital, where she worked as a biomedical engineer, assisting with the installation, testing, and maintenance of hospital equipment.
Since taking office as the Head of the ILO Department in October 2024, Ms. Benson has championed a transformative agenda focused on bridging the gap between education and industry. Under her leadership, the ILO department has undergone significant restructuring and innovation, ensuring that students at Mwala TVC gain meaningful practical experiences. Her key achievements include expansion of industrial attachment networks, and establishment of monitoring and evaluation tools for industrial attachment assessment.
Ms. Benson has successfully initiated and formalized partnerships with a wide array of stakeholders, including public and private industries. Through her efforts, the college has signed multiple Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), which have resulted in increased opportunities for student internships, attachments, industrial visits, and on-the-job training, all of which are essential for enhancing employability and real-world skills.
In her capacity as Productivity Mainstreaming Chair, she has led numerous institutional initiatives to ensure efficient service delivery and measurable improvements in performance. She works collaboratively with the Performance Contract (PC) Coordinator to develop productivity indicators, track institutional targets, and facilitate regular reporting. Her leadership has contributed to fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the college.
Ms. Benson continues to lead with passion, professionalism, and a commitment to institutional advancement. Her strategic vision aligns technical training with evolving market demands, helping to prepare students to meet the expectations and challenges of the modern workforce. She remains a strong advocate for inclusive education, sustainable partnerships, and lifelong learning.
