Head of Department

The Department is structured into three specialized sections. Training is offered across three levels of the Kenya National Qualifications Framework. This provides progressive pathways for learners to advance their education, careers, and entrepreneurial ambitions.

The three levels of training are:

 

TVET CDACC Level 4- (Artisan Certificate) 

TVET CDACC Level 5- (Craft Certificate) 

TVET CDACC Level 6- (Diploma)

THE DEPARTMENT’S THREE SPECIALIZED SECTIONS

Agriculture Section

The Agriculture Section prepares trainees for meaningful careers and enterprise opportunities across the agricultural value chain, with a strong emphasis on food security, sustainable production, agribusiness, innovation, extension services, and livelihood enhancement. 

 

The section offers the following courses:

 

Agricultural Extension - Levels 4, 5, & 6

Agri-preneurship - Levels 4, 5, & 6

Livestock Production- Levels 4, 5, & 6

General Agriculture

Horticultural Technologist

Agricultural Engineering

 

Applied Sciences Section

The Applied Sciences Section focuses on developing scientific and technical competencies through practical, hands-on training. The program equip trainees with analytical, laboratory, research, and problem-solving skills applicable across industry, agriculture, environmental management, manufacturing, and other scientific fields. 

The section offers the following courses:

Science Laboratory Technology - Levels 5 & 6

Analytical Chemistry - Levels 5 & 6

 

Health Sciences Section:

The Health Sciences Section is dedicated to developing competent professionals equipped to contribute effectively to community health and wellbeing. Training emphasizes practical skills, preventive healthcare, health promotion, community engagement, professional ethics, and quality service delivery.

 The section offers the following course:

Community Health - Levels 4, 5 & 6

Message from the Office of DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE AND APPLIED SCIENCES Department

Department of Agriculture and Applied Sciences

Mr. Patrick Kituu is a dedicated and forward-thinking educator serving as the Head of the Department of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. Additionally, he serves as the institution’s Income Generating Activities (IGAs) coordinator. Mr. Kituu holds a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Extension and Education from Egerton University, and is a Certified Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Practitioner. Being the head of the department, he brings a rich professional experience in strategic leadership. His leadership is grounded in a strong commitment to empowering trainees with practical and entrepreneurial skills, and innovative solutions that respond to emerging challenges in employment and community development.

Under his leadership, the Department of Agriculture and Applied Sciences is committed to delivering market-oriented, trainee-centered, and competency-based education and training that bridges the gap between theory and real work world. The department places strong emphasis on equipping trainees with relevant competencies for employment, self-employment, and enterprise development across diverse value chains. This has positioned the department as a powerful pathway for employment creation, enterprise growth, and socio-economic transformation.
